In view  of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has decided to start 200 new air-conditioned (AC) and nonAC low-floor buses between Delhi and Noida. This decision was reached upon so that the visitors coming to watch the Commonwealth Games do not face any dif ficulty so far as transportation facilities is concerned.

With new hotels coming up in the city and UP also having launched the Bed and Breakfast scheme, a large number of visitors are likely to set up base in Noida.

Its distance from the Commonwealth Games Village is another reason why people would be interested in staying in Noida. And in such circumstances the importance of having proper and adequate commuting facilities cannot be over-emphasised.”In the absence of proper DTC buses, it would be impossible to commute between Delhi and Noida at an affordable cost,” says a DTC official.

“Moreover, the condition of the present DTC fleet is not good enough and the Corporation would lose heavily if commuters avoid public transport,” he adds. As of now, 18 routes have already been finalised and the buses are likely to hit the roads this month itself.
